Early Relief Distribution in Rasuwa and Nuwakot

On 26th August 2026, a sudden flash flood swept down the Bhotekoshi River, causing catastrophic destruction across settlements including Timure, Syaphrubesi, Rasuwagadhi, and Betrawati before travelling downstream through the Trishuli river system into Nuwakot and beyond. The disaster has resulted in hundreds of deaths, with bodies recovered as far downstream as Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan, Gorkha, Tanahun, and both Nawalparasi districts, while homes were destroyed and floodwaters reached settlements as high as 270 feet above the river level. Roads, bridges, hydropower infrastructure, and trade routes along the Nepal-Tibet border corridor have also been severely damaged, leaving affected communities without shelter, food, and basic necessities.

As part of our ongoing disaster response efforts, Solve Nepal's field team is actively present in the affected areas, working alongside local communities to support rescue and relief operations despite challenging ground conditions. On 2nd September, under the leadership of our team member Ashok Thapa, our members distributed early relief materials — including 50 mats, blankets, food supplies, utensils, and other essential household items — to families affected in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
